The analytics behind business and market research consists of four essential stages: the collection of data, processing data into information, developing key performance ratios and formulating online strategy Each stage can drive the state preceding or following it. Data collection is often as simple as counts of things. Turning data into information can be the tracking of counts over time or more frequently it is the taking of counts and making them ratios. Most of us are familiar with ratios as Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). The goal of analytics is usually related to making money, saving money, or increasing market share. Often all three.
